Asset Phase I update
Jason Moore
The development team has been working diligently on completing the first phase of the asset upgrades. We have run into a few semi-major snags along the way which has caused several weeks of delays. Here is an updated task list and the coinciding percentage of completion.
We are scheduled to release an Alpha version on next Monday, April 30. IF we have interest (and it appears to ready for a short demo), we will schedule a webinar for later next week.
Please respond to this blog post in the comments section if you are interested in attending a webinar.
Other feedback that we need from you is what type of Asset Reports you are looking to utilize. Please contact me by phone (866.996.1200 x 702) or email (jason.moore@bigwebapps.com) to discuss your necessary reports.

One of the assets that we would really like to track more effectively is that of open software licenses. Ideally the system would allow us to define a particular piece of software, then track multiple license agreements for that software and the count of licenses that each agreement contains. Then we would want to link workstations to that software to track the usage of each license. When a workstation is retired (or lost/stolen), the license would be freed up for assignment to another workstation. Are there any plans for this type of functionality in the new release?
Yes I am interested in attending the Webinar next week.
We would find a barcode scanner interface very useful.
please keep me posted on the webinar.

Tanguy: The Asset Manager will have the ability to track relationships. This may take care of the situation that you are referring to. You would have the software listed as an asset, then have it linked to each piece of harware that it is loaded on.
Questions to be answered: 1. What happens when a linked asset's status is changed to "Inactive"? 2. What kind of report will you need to track the total number?
Matt: I have you down for the webinar. I will send out an update early next week about how this will be set up and when it will be scheduled.
Bruce: We have had several questions about Bar Code Scanner compatibility. Do you have any applications that do this very well that you could point us to? We don't think making it work with a scanner will be difficult. But we are unclear as to how to design the interface to make it work most effectively for your needs.
I also have you on the update list for the webinar.
I am interested in attending the Webinar next week.
Webinar Update: We are moving the webinar back a week. It is now scheduled for Thursday, May 10.
Is morning or afternoon better for most people?

What we are interested in is a way to account for time "Waiting on Parts" to arrive without penalizing the individual technician's response time and adding to the number of days until the problem is resolved because of something out of our control.
